HOW TO: Disable Mac Startup Sound in Snow Leopard and Lion

If you have a Mac I'm sure you have thought once how do I disable the signature startup chime. Whether you tried to go on your computer at night, and put your headphones in and tried to make sure no one heard the startup sound, it always came back to haunt you, but is there a way to disable it? It could and disabled and today I'm going to show you how to do so in both Snow Leopard and Lion. (Snow Leopard Users) If you have Snow Leopard all you will need is a simple plugin that you can find in your preference pane and in a few clicks you can disable this noise. This plugin has the ability to lower or disable this sound completely. The plugin is called StartupSound.prefPane and you can find the link to the download below! (Lion Users) All you will need is a free and simple application that is called
Startup Ninja. Startup Ninja is more of a permanent solution to mute your Mac's startup sound. Now if you have an iMac the website says it doesn't work for iMac's and that's not true because I have an iMac and it works.
