After Effects 101: How To Make Still Pictures Talk (Step by Step)

If you have ever have wanted to do this effect that is shown in this picture and you never exactly knew how or even where to start I'll break all that to you. The first thing being is you'll need Adobe After Effects, you can click here to download a 30-day trial at Adobe.com. Remember that you're downloading CS6, the newer version so it might look a little different but it should work exactly the same way. Anyways, to make this possible all you'll really need is a still image and an audio file. Now I've heard from some advanced After Effects users that .WAV is the format to go with when it comes to After Effects since it saves you from problems in the future. So make sure whatever format you have you convert it to .WAV and I'll show you guys how to do so, just click here for that [video]. I'll post a video tutorial on how to do this step by step below but the expression that you'll need is:
temp = thisComp.layer("Audio Amplitude").effect("Both Channels")("Slider") * 10;
[position[0], position[1] + temp]
And remember if at any point the mouth is open too low and you can see a lot of the black solid just change the 10 on the first line from the expression above to a lower number like a 5 or even 4. Don't be afraid to experiment, and it all depends on the style you're going for so I'm not the person to tell you whether you're doing it right or wrong. Hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial, I had as much fun making it as I hope you did watching and hopefully trying it yourself.

-Thanks for reading and remember it depends on the style you're going for(;
